Where’s our boat?

Having survived our budget flights and arrived in one piece in Southern Turkey, we soon settled into the relaxed pace of Gocek. We met up with Agatha & Julien in the afternoon & night one had us chowing down on local specialties under a balmy starry night at the seaside “Kebab Hospital”. Washing down the tasty fresh food with cold Efes (the local beer) and Raki. The girls took a few notes off the menu and it was decided that we would stock the boat with Turkish…

8 days, 5 flights and the tour is well underway!

It so surreal to be sitting in an Istanbul airport writing this, having been in London for the past 2 days, Sydney, 4 days ago, New Zealand 8 days ago and sailing around Vanuatu for the month prior to that – but we wouldn’t have it any other way! Our goodbye party at the Opera bar couldn’t have been better. Winter disappeared for a day as Sydney put on a show with 29 degrees and sunny blue skies all around. Thanks to all of our friends (and…

Tapping into Vanuatu

It was fun coming back to Port Vila again and showing Luciana around. Interesting when you come back to a foreign place for a second time, it’s happened to me quite a few times over the years, I instantly feel like a local??! 2008 Toyota Prado – what a “Little Monster”

Luciana affectionately named the Prado “Little Monster”. During our 7000 Km trip around South Easter Australia, The Prado was our bedroom, kitchen, storage, workshop, power station, water supply and ultimately our best friend. out of the 7000 Kms covered, approx 2500 kms was off-road, ranging from hard packed, grated roads through to driving on soft sand dunes, with tires down to 16 PSI and praying that we won’t get stuck. Our Little Monster Toyota Prado was up to everything we asked of it and we could not…

Xmas and a flat battery…

Christmas has come and gone and what a great success it was. The whole xmas crew enjoyed themselves, food, drink, sunshine and presents a plenty!! Had a fairly restless sleep last night... actually thinking about work, and solving website hosting issues in my head. how loong will these last for? still get the odd pang of anxiety-like sensations about having to return to work soon, only to remind myself that in fact I don't! Funny thing happened yesterday, my watch battery went flat, it's worked faultlessly for…
